There is a lot of hype around blockchain at the moment. Ever since bitcoin came onto the scene there has been a lot of speculation around blockchain and its potential effect on society. We think that the potential importance of this technology goes beyond the financial sensation that is backing it at the moment. Philip Bruland brings you this talk to try and give you an introduction on how this technology actually works so that you have a better understanding and hopefully form your own opinion on how it might affect the future.

Extra mini talk

Our guest speaker, Todd will be doing a short 5 minute teaser presentation after the main talk analysing the financial feasibility of mining blockchain altcoins (specifically ethereum) from a cost/benefit and risk perspective.

About the speakers

- Main Speaker -

Philip Bruland

- BEng in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from the University of Bristol (UK).

- 6 Months experience working on sensors for the water industry as part of Siemens.

- 2 Years experience working on Linux/Android kernel mode drivers for graphics processors for Imagination Technologies.

- Recently started working freelance. Including developing content around cryptocurrency use and trading.

- A new face at Coderbunker.

- Guest Speaker -

Todd Tang

- Mathematics (Statistics and Cryptography) and Neuroscience at the University of Sydney.

- First started Mining in 2014.
- Knowledgeable about blockchain technology and mathematical proofs behind blockchain.
- Understands the technical aspects of mining hardware and software.
